Secondary Reporting

Secondary schools report formally to parents/guardians at designated times during the school year.

Provincial report cards are issued twice a semester and indicate the student's development of learning skills, work habits and achievement of the curriculum expectations.

Report card comments should:

  • Focus on what a student has learned, describe significant strengths and identify next steps for improvement;
  • Avoid language that simply repeats the wording of the curriculum expectations or the achievement chart, and use language that is parent/student friendly; and
  • Allow teachers the opportunity to compose personalized, clear, precise and meaningful comments.
