Spring flooding may impact student transportation services

Posted on Friday May 12, 2017

(Renfrew County) Due to flooding in some lowland areas across Renfrew County, bus routes within the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) may be altered or cancelled.
The RCDSB, is working closely with the Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium (RCJTC) to keep students, parents and schools informed of the status of busing. Parents will be contacted as quickly as possible if their child will not have bus transportation. Every effort will be made to secure alternative transportation.

In most cases, the RCJTC receives notification of flooded and closed roadways in advance by local public works representatives. Nevertheless, in some instances, a bus driver will come across water flowing over roadways and/or bridges on their route. In these cases, drivers are not able to determine if the road or bridge has been compromised. They are instructed to turn around.

Water levels have started to recede in most areas but rain predicted for the weekend may result in another surge of water.
